Local dancer donates check to St. Mary's after near-death experience

Maria Hernandez of Palm Beach Gardens says dancing is what ultimately saved her.

“Because if it had not been for all the training all the hard work, my lungs would not have been strong enough to go through what they went through,” she said.

The 25-year-old suffered a traumatic brain injury, broken ribs, two punctured lungs and multiple fractures on her arms and leg she says as a result of someone’s poor decision.
